Cipla To Acquire 25% In Cipla Medpro's Manufacturing Unit

Cipla may acquire 25% stake in the manufacturing division of South Africa based Cipla-Medpro Pty Limited. Cipla doesnt have any stake in the company. The two have been partners for 18 years.

If the deal goes through, it would be Cipla's first ever overseas pure play pharma acquisition.

Cipla will invest in Cipla Medpro Manufacturing (Pty) Ltd (CMM), a subsidiary of Cipla Medpro South Africa Limited, which is setting up one of the largest contract manufacturing facilities in Africa at an investment of over Rs 145 Cr. Currently CMM is a loss making division of Cipla Medpro.

Zenox Lifesciences To Raise PE Funding

Zenox Lifesciences Limited is set to raise Rs.6 Cr through private equity route in a few months.

The funds will be utilised for new business opportunities, pan-India expansion by 2012 -13 and for buying brands.

 

Chennai-headquartered Zenox was formed  in June 2010 by Dr. S.Arulrhaj - Common Wealth Medical Association President, Past President of Indian Medical Association and Former Chairman & Co-Promoter of Grandix Pharmaceuticals Limited; and  by S.A.Manikandan - Former CEO of Strides Pharmaceuticals and Former Co-founder & Managing Director of Grandix Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

Elder Pharma Plans To Raise $50 Mn QIP

Elder Pharmaceuticals is planning to raise $50 Mn through QIP.

Part of the fund raised will be utilised to repay its debt which stands at around Rs.500 crore, while the balance will be used to complete projects at its R&D facility in Vashi, Maharashtra.

Elder Pharma has presence in therapeutic segments like women's healthcare, wound care and pain management, nutraceuticals, anti-infective and lifestyle disease care.

Cipla To Acquire Formulation Firm Meditab For Rs 133 Cr

Cipla, a bulk drug and formulation manufacturer acquires Meditab Specialities Private Limited, a formulation manufacturing company for Rs. 133 Cr.

Cipla’s acquisition will result in operational and cost efficiencies for the company. It will help to expand its API / intermediates international business through the Meditab's manufacturing facility in China. Meditab will help Cipla to leverage additional business opportunity in Africa through its manufacturing facility in Uganda.

Kalpathi Investments Picks 45% Stake In Primex Healthcare

Chennai-based Primex Healthcare has raised Rs.5.1 Cr from Kalpathi Investments by diluting 45% stake. The deal values Primex at Rs.11.33 Cr.

Primex Healthcare And Research Pvt Ltd has plans to set up over 50 premium quality diagnostic facilities at affordable prices across Tamil Nadu over the next 12 months.

Led by former Microsoft executive Anand Mahadevan, Primex will target all income groups starting from the lower-middle to the upper income group and corporates, and will offer high-end 1.5T MRI, Multi-slice CT, High frequency Digital X- Ray, 3D ultrasound systems, computerized ECG, treadmill, PFT and EEG.

PE Fund SIDOFI Communication To Buy 10% In Asianet

Mauritius-based private equity fund SIDOFI Communication Investment is set to acquire nearly 10% stake in Kerala-based broadcaster Asianet Communication Limited (ACL), which is backed by leading broadcaster Star TV India.

SIDOFI will buy this stake from another Mauritius-based private equity fund Americorp Ventures. Americorp bought 9.33% stake in Asianet in 2005 for Rs.6.6 crore valuing Asianet at Rs.70 crore.
