Royal Orchid Increases Its Stake In Amartara Hospitality To 74%

Bangalore-based Royal Orchid Hotels Liimited (ROHL) has increased its stake to 74% in Powai-based Amartara Hospitality Private Limited by acquiring an additonal 21% stake.

Last year in November, ROHL had acquired 53% in Amartara Hospitality for Rs.18.04 crore to implement its 4-star hotel project.

The acquisition will result in the development of a 250 room four-star hotel located in Powai, Mumbai at a cost of around Rs.125 crore, where Amartara has 50,000 square feet land parcel.

Royal Orchid will fund the Amartara buy through internal accruals.

Reliance Cap Trustee Acquires 8.68% Stake In Trent For Rs 21.2 Cr

ADAG's group firm Reliance Capital Trustee has bought 8.68% stake in Trent Limited for Rs.21.2 crore, marking the ADA Group’s entry into the retail sector.

The cumulative compulsorily convertible preference shares of Trent were bought by Reliance Capital Asset Management through various mutual fund series, including Reliance Equity Linked Saving Fund Series-I, Reliance Dual Advantage Fixed Tenure, Reliance Equity Opportunties Fund and Reliance Tax Saver Elss Fund.

Clearwater May Acquire 33% Stake In Kamat Hotels

Private Equity firm Clearwater Capital Partners may acquire 33% stake in Kamat Hotels (India) Ltd.

At today's closing price of Kamat Hotels at Rs.117.50 per share on BSE, its market capitalization was Rs.155 crore. So, based on this, Clearwater might pay Rs.51 crore for 33% stake.

This is not the first investment of Clearwater in the hotel space. It has an investment in Sayaji Hotels and this year in May it increased its stake in Sayaji Hotels to 32.87% after the conversion of foreign currency convertible bonds (FCCBs).

Gitanjali Gems Plans To Acquire Italian Jewellery Firm

Gitanjali Gems is planning to acquire an Italian jewellery house.

Although Gitanjali Gems did not divulge the name of the target company or the size of acquisition, but according to the news sources, the target company could be DIT Group, known for its three celebrated jewellery brands — Io Si, Porrati and Nouvelle Bague.

If this deal materialises, it will help Gitanjali Gems to expand in the global market, especially in European and the Middle East markets.

Reliance Acquires 14.12% Stake In Oberoi Hotels

Reliance Industries, through its wholly owned subsidiary Reliance Industries Investment and Holding Private Limited has acquired 14.12% stake in EIH Ltd, that runs the 'Oberoi' brand of hotels and resorts, for Rs.1,021 crore.

It has acquired the stake from Oberoi Hotels Private Limited and certain other promoters of EIH Limited.

This is a strategic investment by RIL and through this deal, it enters into the hospitality segment.

Symphony Service Acquires US Based CoreObjects Software

Bangalore-based Symphony Service Corporation has acquired CoreObjects Software Inc, a Los Angeles-based new product development services provider, that specialises in bringing commercially deployable products to market.

With CoreObjects’ engineering delivery centers in Bangalore and Pune, India and its team of highly skilled full-time product engineers and deep vertical market expertise, Symphony Services will expand its offerings in the product development and embedded product development space.

This acquisition also provides Symphony Services access to additional re-usable components and frameworks for product development, including CoreObjects' Smart Objects suite of software assets designed to speed clients' products to market.
