It was in 1981, when Mrs Murthy's Rs 10,000 led the founding stone of the country's biggest success story Infosys and now again, she has sold 2 mn Infosys shares to raise $92 mn for NRN Murthy's VC fund - Catamaran Venture Fund. Post sell-off, Ms. Sudha’s holding will be reduced to 73.14 lakh shares, representing 1.27% stake in the company.
Last month, Mr. Narayana Murthy had also sold 0.13 % stake to raise Rs. 174 crore to invest in the venture capital fund. Ms. Sudha held 1.62 % in Infosys, while Mr. Murthy held 0.55 % stake before selling. The couple’s daughter Akshata and son Rohan holds 1.41% and 1.39% stake, respectively.
It is understood that with on Thursday’s fund-raising, Murthy has decided to close the fund, which will now have a corpus of Rs 600 crore, which is enough for an angel or an early stage fund what Murthy had intended to set up. The fund would now be operational, sources added.
