Sigrid Education, an e-learning platform has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from early stage investment firm Oliphans Capital, marking its eighth investment in the startup space.

The company aims to create and introduce courses in the 50 most prominent test-prep and K12 curriculum areas over the next 6 months.

Founded in 2012 by a team of IIT, IIM and HBS alumni, Ajit Maheswari, Atul Kasaundhan and Aakash Aggarwal, Sigrid enables teachers to bring their courseware, testing material and insights online, allowing them to reach out to students across the country. It partners with educational institutes and teachers to bring their teaching and expertise beyond the boundaries of a classroom.

Currently, Sigird’s products which are already in market includes iBall Edu-Slide tablet PC (e-learning content for class 1-12 for CBSE, ICSE and some state boards on Android OS), Edu-Slide eTeach content for Windows (e-learning content for class 1-12 for CBSE, ICSE and some state boards for Windows OS), iBall Edu-Slide for JEE (Main and Advanced) with pre-loaded content from Bansal Classes, Kota (made with Sigrid Notes: a unique content co-creation platform).

Founded in 2012 by Anish Jhaveri and Mohit Gulati, Oliphans Capital provides both equity and debt capital to its investee companies and it typically invests in the range of USD 0.5 - 3.0 Million. Apart from Sigrid’s investment, Oliphans portfolio includes BVG India, DEN Networks, Ecom Express, LocalBanya.com, Grab.in, OnlineRTI.com and Prothom Industries.
