Nagpur based cloud telephony company, BigV Telecom Private Limited is planning to raise close to INR 300 – 400 Mn as it seeks to expand its presence in the country. However, the amount of stake to be divested is not known.

The first external funding will be utilized for expanding into metros, marketing and technology upgradation purposes.

Surmount Advisors, a Pune based investment banking firm, has been mandated as an advisor for the fund raising of BigV telecom.

Tata Elxsi incubatee Big V telecom was founded by Keshor Daga and aims to provide affordable call centers to all SME, corporates, government bodies and NGOs through its customized telephony business solutions. It offers customizable services through a range of products like YOCC, Power School, Big Birthday,Big Shaadi, Audio Blog, Big Fun, Bulk Voice Call, Toll Free Website,Toll Free Number and Call conference under one umbrella. The company works on a franchise model and is now looking forward to expand through own offices besides franchisees in metros and tier 2 cities.

BigV has fostered partnerships and collaborations with West Central Railways (Provided 131 Railway inquiry call center), BSNL (Value added Service providers for Maharashtra & other Telecom circles),TV 18’s commoditycontrol.com (Provided on-spot updated commodity rates on telephone to the masses) and Municipal Corporation (Provided pending Tax, complaint booking & information system with escalation matrix).

Over the past few years cloud telephony has come a long way in India. Ozonetel, Exotel, Knowlarity, Sonetel, MyOperator, Sipper Global Informatics are among other players in the space. The space has witnessed many activities in the space both PE and M&A.

  • Ozonetel acquired customers of Resolivity’s Voicegain platform.
  • Gurgaon-based Knowlarity acquired Unicom Techlabs,
  • Knowlarity Communications Private Limited had secured $16 Mn in series B funding from Sequoia Capital and Mayfield.
  • Exotel had raised INR 25 Mn in Series A funding from Mumbai Angels & Blume Ventures – for a 25% stake in the company
