Rajesh Sawhney of GSF Accelerator and Mukul Singhal (SAIF Partners) have invested an undisclosed seed amount in Playcez, an events discovery platform, states nextbigwhat.com.
As a participant in the accelerator programme, each one gets $28,000 in funding and a chance to receive an investment of upto $3 Mn from GSF Superangels.
Playcez is a visual recommendation engine helping users discover the best places to eat, shop and hang out.
It does this by giving suggestions about the best places to go based on likes and recommendations from people in the users’ social circle.
It is built on a proprietary soon-to-be patented technology.
Playcez mines social media data in real-time to provide location-specific suggestions based on who is saying what, where and whether they are looking to eat, play or shop.
It has been mentored by Ixigo’s cofounder Aloke Bajpal.
Rajesh Sawhney’s recent investment include Grey Orange Robotics and Sharedcab.com while that of Mukul Singhal includes funds invested into video content provider – A2Media and online apparel store Zovi.com.
A company operating in a somewhat similar line of business, Tushky, had raised around R35 lac in angel funds from undisclosed investors last year in September. It is essentially a marketplace where businesses/individuals can offer their services to provide fun activities in or around a city.
