Parenteral Drugs (India) Limited has executed an agreement with Fresenius Kabi India Private Limited to sell its only manufacturing unit at Goa through its subsidiary - Goa Formulations Limited (GFL) for R200 Cr.

Incorporated in September 2005, GFL is engaged in manufacturing of IVF. It is a part of Parenteral group and is a wholly-owned manufacturing subsidiary of PDIL and has significant operational linkages with it.

Systematix Capital Services acted as the sole transaction advisor.

The Parenteral group is engaged in the manufacturing and marketing of IVF and pharmaceutical formulations for domestic as well as less-regulated export markets. The promoters of PDIL promoted GFL for setting up a manufacturing capacity for IVF in Goa so as to cater to the southern market of India.

The group has a total IVF capacity of 3,600 lakh units per annum as on March 31, 2012. Besides IVF, PDIL also has a formulation unit for oncology products with an installed capacity of 15 lakh ampoules per annum. The manufacturing facilities of PDIL are located at Indore in Madhya Pradesh, Baddi in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Goa.

Fresenius Kabi India is a 100% subsidiary of Fresenius Kabi AG Germany. Fresenius Kabi’s product portfolio consists of pharmaceuticals, namely of products for infusion therapies and clinical nutrition and we offer the respective medical devices for the application of both therapies.

Fresenius Kabi India has a state-of-the-art factory situated at Pune for manufacturing plasma volume expanders, intravenous drugs and basic intravenous solutions.

Recently in this space, Strides Arcolab sold its drug injectible business – Agila Specialities to US generic drugmaker Mylan inc.
