Verlinvest SA has picked up around 10% stake in Future Ventures India for around R110 - 130 Cr. The stake was mostly acquired from the open market over the last three to four months, according to ET.

Kishore Biyani plans to realign Future Ventures into two operating entities - food and fashion, to attract fresh strategic and financial investments.

The company has mandated PricewaterhouseCoopers and law firm AZB & Partners to advise it on the restructuring exercise.

Last Month, Future Ventures acquired 100% stake of Express Retail Services Private Limited, which operates retail stores of groceries and food products under the 'Big Apple' brand for R61.35 Cr.

The company has investments in Biba Apparels, Indus-League Clothing, Indus Tree Crafts and Amar Chitra Katha among others.

Future Ventures had increased its stake in Capital Foods - which is into processed foods business with brands like Ching’s Secret, Smith & Jones and Kaeng Thai among others. It has also invested in Adhaar Retailing (investment of R20 Cr) – a rural and semi-urban retailer of agricultural products and consumer products including apparel, seeds, fertilizers and FMCG goods.

Verlinvest SA is a fund created by the three founding families of beer conglomerate Anheuser-Busch InBev. This February, it acquired 20% stake in Cuisine Asia, a Mauritius-based holding company of Everstone Capital's restaurant investments, which includes Blue Foods with brands like Noodle Bar, Bombay Blue and Copper Chimney.

In November'2010, Verlin SA acquired 15% stake in in wine maker Nashik Vintners Pvt. Ltd (NVPL), known for its Sula brand, for $15 Mn.

Verlinvest has investments in Anheuser-Busch, which makes Budweiser and Bud Light beer, and French liquor maker Remy Cointreau. Verlinvest had earlier invested in water brand Glacéau, a stake it sold to Coca-Cola Inc. in 2007.
