Sachindra Rudra Joins Acumen Fund

Sachindra Rudra has joined Acumen Fund to lead its India investment.

Rudra replaced Meghna Rao who stepped down last December. Interim country director - Ankur Shah will now maintain his existing role as head of the Education Portfolio.

Prior joining Acumen Fund, Rudra served as a Director for Navis capital Indian operations.

Rudra has over 15 years of investment experience, working in PE, consulting and operations across various sectors including healthcare and consumer products. Prior to Navis, he spent a number of years at Piramal Healthcare, where he held various positions including President-Strategy and Business Development and Business Head-Orthopedics.

Rudra also worked with McKinsey & Coin Delhi and began his career working as an Area Sales Manager for Hindustan Unilever, Calcutta where he had substantial exposure to rural and semi-urban markets and consumers.

Non-profit global venture - Acumen Fund has been investing in India from 2001, till date the fund has invetsed around $25 Mn in sustainable, scalable organizations delivering affordable products and services to the poor. . It lists 15 portfolio companies on its website which include Husk Power Systems, Hippocampus Learning Centers, LifeSpring, WaterHealth and D.Light Design. Globally, the firm has invested more than $75 million in 69 companies.

This May, BASIX Krishi Samruddhi raised $2Mn from Acumen Fund.

Recently, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co appointed Akhil Puri as India Director of KKR capstone Asia.
