Publicis Group has acquired Mumbai based digital media agency - Indigo Consulting. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

It will now operate as a unit within the Leo Burnett Group in India and will retain its name. Its founder, Vikas Tandon, will remain as MD, reporting into Arvind Sharma, Chairman of the Indian Subcontinent for Leo Burnett.

Since it was founded in 2000, Indigo Consulting has developed websites, software solutions and digital marketing programs for clients around the world, including Asian Paints, HDFC Bank, HSBC (India, Asia-Pacific and Middle East), Loop Mobile, Tata AIG Insurance and South Australia Tourism. The agency currently employs a team of 160 at its Mumbai headquarters and Delhi office. Their work has been recognized with Webby awards, W3 awards and Abbys.

Euronext Paris-listed communications company Publicis Groupe is the world's third largest communications group, with a presence in 104 countries through three global advertising networks, Leo Burnett, Publicis, Saatchi & Saatchi, and numerous agencies including Fallon, 49% owned Bartle Bogle Hegarty, and Kaplan Thaler Group.

The group's VivaKi, which developes new services, tools, and next generation digital platforms, operates along side Starcom MediaVest Group and ZenithOptimedia worldwide media networks. Publicis Groupe offers healthcare communications with Publicis Healthcare Communications Group and with MS&L Group, a PR and events networks, also provides expertise in corporate and financial communications, public affairs, branding, and social media marketing.

Earlier in 2007, MS&L had acquired leading Indian public relations consultancy Hanmer & Partners, founded by Sunil Gautam, a former founding partner Mumbai-based Clea Advertising, rebranding it as Hanmer MS&L.

PHCG manages top-tier agencies specializing in promoting innovative solutions in advertising, medical education, sales and marketing, digital, market access, and medical and scientific affairs. With nearly 3,000 employees, PHCG manages 17 agency brands through 45 offices located in 11 countries.

Last year, it acquired a majority stake in Mumbai-based healthcare advertising agency Watermelon Healthcare Communications Private Limited. It also acquired a majority stake in public relations (PR) and marketing communications firm 20:20 Media, and social media consulting firm 2020 Social.
