Indian Angel Network Invests In Gaming Startup - Gamiana
Indian Angel Network has invest about $1Mn in gaming startup Gamiana Digital Entertainment Pvt Ltd. IAN member Chetan Shah has joined the board of Gamiana.
Gamiana will use the funds to grow its customer base, enhance gaming software development for existing games--Jamia Online and Vinashi--and bid for new gaming contracts in overseas markets.
Gamiana co-founded by Vishal Golia develops real-time synchronous games across PC, Facebook and wireless platforms (including Android, iOS and others).
The Indian Angel Network has over 180 members and has over 25 investments across multiple sectors like IT, Mobile and Education and has made several successful exits. In 2011 alone, IAN invested nearly US$10Mn in 10 start ups including Jigsee, Groffr, and Vayavya.
Last month, it announced a R3.25Cr investment in Peel-Works, a cloud enabled sales force transformation and BPO firm.
The 2011 saw three of IAN portfolio companies - Kwench Library Solutions, Druva and TaxSpanner -- being chosen among the hottest start ups of 2011 by BusinessWorld and Business Today magazines.
Last year in March, Mumbai-based online gaming company, Games2Win has raised Series B funding of $6 Mn from existing investors Clearstone Venture Partners and Silicon Valley Bank (SVB India Capital Partners).
