US based Healthcare analytics provider - IMS Health Inc. has acquired Baring PE backed PharmARC Analytics Solutions Pvt Ltd. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Through the acquisition, IMS will gain complementary services offerings, including robust key opinion leader analytics and social media monitoring capabilities. PharmARC also brings software engineering expertise to accelerate IMS innovation and offerings development, according to the press release.
Bangalore based PharmARC was co-founded by Amit Sadana and Siraj Dhanani in 2004. the company provides sales and marketing analytics, and business consulting services to the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry.
The company offers forecasting, sales force effectiveness, competitive intelligence, performance analysis and dashboard, market research, key opinion leader practice, oncology consulting, epidemiology and medical vaccines consulting, data management and analytics and technology services.
PharmARC raised $10Mn from Baring PE in 2006. It was also planning to go for a second round of funding in 2010, but deal never happened.
IMS Health was founded in 1954 by Bill Frohlich and David Dubow. It analytics, on-shore and off-shore commercial services, and business intelligence platforms to its healthcare clients in more than 100 countries.
The company was taken private by TPG Capital, CPP Investment Board and Leonard Green & Partners in 2010. After going private, it acquired Brogan, Inc., a privately held market research and consulting firm serving the Canada healthcare market.
The company has a history of expanding geographically through acquisitions. In the past it grew inorganically by acquiring Cambridge Pharma Consultancy, Marketin Intiatives, Data Niche Associates, United Research China, PharMetrics, IHS, MedInitiatives, ValueMedics Research and RMBC, a provider of national pharmaceutical market intelligence and analytics in Russia.
