Gurgaon based cloud telephony startup - Knowlarity has raised funding from Sequoia Capital. The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed, however according to ET, Sequoia will invest upto R35Cr in the cloud telephony firm.
Mohit Bhatnagar, MD-Sequoia Capital has joined the board of Knowlarity.
The funds will be used to scale its R&D facility in India, besides developing sales and marketing in the international market. At the time of inception, Knowlarity had raised a little less than $2 million from angel investors.
Mumbai based Merisis Capital Advisors advised Knowlarity on the fund raise.
Founded in 2009 by IIT- Kanpur graduates Ambarish Gupta and Pallav Pandey, Knowlarity Communications Pvt Ltd provides voice and data communication services over the internet to companies and individuals in India and Indonesia. It claims to have over 40,000 clients including major companies such as Pepsi, General Motors, Adobe, Noida Police, Fortis Healthcare and Procter & Gamble.
Cloud computing space hase seen a couple of VC and M&A transactions in the past year. In September, Chennai based cloud computing firm - Vembu Technologies acquired CloudNucleus, in a deal valued at around $10 Mn. Some time ago, Citrix acquired Bangalore-based cloud start-up, VMLogix.
Other cloud computing solution providers in India include Zenith Infotech's PROUD, TCS's ITaaS, Chennai-based OrangeScape's OrgangeScape Cloud, Cynapse India's Cyn.in, Mumbai-based Synage's DeskAway, TCS' ITaaS and Infosys Technologies' cloud based solution for auto sector, among others.
