Dishman Pharmaceuticals & Chemicals Ltd has acquired France based contract development firm - Creapharm Parenterals through it's wholly owned subsidiary - Carbogen Amcis AG.
As part of this acquisition, Creapharm Parenterals has changed its name to Carbogen Amcis SAS. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The acquisition will extend Carbogen Amcis’ range of development and manufacturing services by adding formulation, lyophilization services and sterile GMP capabilities for the development of drug products, including highly potent drugs, for preclinical studies and clinical trials.
Creapharm Parenterals has more than 10 years of expertise in the supply of Investigational Medicinal Products (IMP), with more than 300 batches and 145 clinical batches produced since 2000. The company employs 16 specialists and operates a GMP manufacturing site in Riom, France.
Established in 1983, Dishman Pharmaceuticals manufactures speciality chemicals, APIs and intermediaries. The company operates in two segments: contract research & manufacturing services and speciality chemicals.It has two plants and Naroda and Bavala in Gujarat.
It has a strategic alliance with California based Codexis Inc, to use Codexis' enzymatic biocatalysts technology to manufacture building blocks, intermediates and APIs. The company has manufacturing facilities in Switzerland, Netherlands and the UK.
A number of multinational pharma companies are targeting the emerging markets including India for acquisitions as they are facing pricing pressures and threats to revenues due to patent expiry of their best selling drugs. Japan based Takeda is also looking to acquire companies in India.
However some Indian companies including GVK Biosciences, part of GVK Group, is cquiring Spectrum Biosciences, which is based in Frostburg, Maryland (US). Spectrum Bio provides dedicated contract compound management services to the life sciences industry.
