US based Microinsurance fund-Leapfrog is investing Rs67Cr in Shriram Credit Ltd for a 10% stake.
Shriram will utilise the funds to finance the expansion of it's subsidiaries - Shriram Fortune Solutions(Financial Products Distribution) and Shriram Insight Share Brokers Ltd.
Unitus Capital was the sole investment advisor assisting LeapFrog in this transaction, while Amarchand Mangaldas provided legal representation.

This is LeapFrog's first investment in India and the Rs600Cr fund is focused on insurance and financial services firms catering to the under served market in Africa and Asia.
Investors in LeapFrog's fund include global banks such as JP Morgan, Triodos, IFC, KfW, and EIB; leading funds such as Soros EDF, TIAA-CREF, Omidyar Network, FMO, and Calvert; global reinsurers SCOR, Haverford, and Flagstone Re; and development financiers including Proparco and Accion Frontier Investments Group.
Apart from Shriram CCL, LeapFrog has invested $6.7 Mn in AllLife, a South African insurer of people with HIV/AIDS. The fund has also put in $14 Mn in Apollo, a leading insurance group operating in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda which offers life and non life insurance products through APA Insurance and Apollo Life.
