Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co (KKR) has appointed Dhiren Mehta as its India director.
Mehta joins KKR from Nomura India, where he was executive director and headed fixed income institutional sales.
In his new role, Mehta will handle KKR's multi-asset class business.
He will be based in Mumbai and will work with KKR India's CEO Sanjay Nayar, and BV Krishnan, Director and head of KKR's NBFC.
Dhiren started his career at Citigroup, where he worked for over 17 years across both the equity and fixed income domains. He played an important role in building Citigroup's fixed income sales platform in India, and also served as the head of Citigroup's credit trading business in India. He was also the MD for the Primary Dealership vehicle at Citigroup.
He has also served as a Board Member of the Primary Dealership Association of India. He is a member of the ICAI.
Last year, KKR appointed former Goldman Sachs MD Heramb Hajarnavis, as Director.
Recently KKR along with IFC invested Rs.440 Cr in
Magma Fincorp Limited and is looking to buy addtional 11% stake in
Avantha Power and Infrastructure Limited for $75 Mn. Last year, it had invested $50 Mn (Rs.217 Cr) in Avantha Power for 9% stake.
KKR's other investments in India include $250 Mn in Bharti Infratel, $900 Mn in Aricent, Rs.750 Cr in Dalmia Cement and $75 Mn in Coffee Day Holdings.
