ADAG May Sell 49% in BigTV For Rs2000-2500 Cr

Anil Ambani may sell upto 49% stake in his DTH venture-Reliance Big TV to raise upto Rs2000-2500 Cr. It is talking to US based cable operator - Comcast Corporation for the stake sale. If the deal goes through it will be the largest in the DTH space.

Reliance Big TV has around 4 mn subscribers and is looking for funds to more than double its subscriber base in next 12-18 months and turn profitable.

There are six major DTH providers today: Airtel Digital TV, Dish TV, Sun Direct, Reliance Digital TV, Videocon d2h, and Tata Sky.

It is the only DTH player with no foreign investor. Tata Sky had raised Rs250 Cr by selling a 10% stake to Singapore's Temasek. Malaysia's Astro has invested about Rs900 Cr for a 35% stake in Sun Direct.
