Nomura Names Prabhat Awasthi Head Of Equities, India
Nomura has appointed Prabhat Awasthi as head of equities, India. Since October 2008, he has been head of equity research at Nomura India, a position he will continue to hold.
He will report to John Adair and Paul Dolan, who jointly head Asia-Pacific equities for Nomura. He will be responsible for delivering Nomura's strategy for equities in India and strengthening the firm's local presence.
Awasthi will replace Pankaj Vaish who quit Nomura in July last year to join Citigroup as bank's South Asia markets head.
Awasthi joined Nomura from Lehman Brothers in October 2008 as the head of equity research, India. Prior Lehman, Awasthi was a founding member of the Brics Securities business that Lehman bought in 2007. He has also worked at JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley.
Last year, Nomura India appointed Kotak Mahindra Capital's Indraneil Borkakoty, as Head of Equity Capital Markets.
