Blackstone has invested Rs.225 Cr in Jagran Media Network Investment Pvt Ltd (JMNIPL), the holding company of Jagran Prakashan Ltd.
JMNIPL recently became a holding company of Jagran Prakashan with all the 21 promoters consolidating their 59.46% stake in Jagran Prakashan into JMNIPL.

Last year in April, Jagran Media Network Pvt Ltd, had announced that it would raise Rs.225 Cr from Blackstone to consolidate its business and look at acquisition opportunities. Jagran Media had filed for necessary approvals for the investment with the FIPB.
A month after that, Jagran acquired the publishing business of Mid Day in a share swap deal. The publishing business included the afternoon newspaper Mid Day, Sunday Mid Day and Gujarati Mid Day, besides the largest read Urdu daily, The Inquilab, and the website.
Mahendra Mohan Gupta promoted Jagran Group, publishes Hindi news daily, Dainik Jagran, which has a total readership of more than 54 Mn. Jargan It also offers outdoor advertising, below the line solutions, internet, magazines and value added services.
Jagran Prakashan posted 29.6% increase in its consolidated revenues for FY11 at Rs.1,221 Cr, with PAT of Rs.210 Cr.
