Wipro Consumer Care Buys Soap Brands - Aramusk and Moloy
Wipro Consumer Care And Lighting has bought two soap brands - Aramusk and Moloy, from Mumbai-based VVF Ltd.
Last year, VVF had acquired these brands and 'Mahabringol' hair oil from German consumer products firm Henkel.
VVF still retains brands such as 'Doy' baby soap and 'Jo' a soap for women, in its portfolio.

VVF also makes oleochemicals, a key ingredient for soaps and cosmetics and undertakes contact manufacturing for leading FMCG companies.
In late 2009, VVF had bought out Henkel's plant at Tiljala, Kolkata.
Aramusk is among the oldest male deodorant soaps in the country with a loyal consumer, while Moloy sandalwood soap have reasonable equity in eastern India.
Henkel had acquired the plant along with Aramusk and Moloy brands one decade ago when it bought out Shaw Wallace’s consumer care division, which included Calcutta Chemicals and Detergents India.
In 2003, Wipro Consumer made its first acquisition with energy drink 'Glucovita' followed by 'Chandrika' soap in 2004 and North-West Switches in 2006. Its first major overseas acquisition was Singapore-based Unza Holdings for around Rs.1000 Cr. In 2009, it acquired Yardley's franchise in Asia, West Asia and Africa for over Rs.200 Cr.
Last December, Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL) has acquired liquid detergent brand 'Genteel' and hair wash soap 'Swastik Shikakai'. from Mumbai-based Priya Kothari family. In 2008, Dabur acquired Nasik-based Fem Care Pharma, makers of the Fem fairness bleachIn 2005, Dabur had acquired three Balsara group companies, Balsara Home Products, Balsara Hygiene Products and Besta Cosmetics in 2005. giving it access to brands such as Babool, Meswak, Odomos, Odopic and Odonil.
