Schneider Electric May Acquire Majority Stake In Luminous Power
Schneider Electric may acquire a majority stake in Delhi-based 
Luminous Power Technologies Pvt Ltd (LPT).
LPT, incorporated by Rakesh Malhotra, Navneet Kapoor, and Sunil Bhalla in 1988, is a manufacturer of inverters, uninterrupted power supply (UPS) systems and batteries.

CLSA Capital Partners, which had invested $20 Mn in Luminous in 2007, may exit through this deal.
Luminous' manufacturing units are located in Una in Himachal Pradeshand and China and has technology centers in India, US and China.
In 2009, Luminous had acquired a controlling stake in Tritronics (India), a North India based UPS manufacturer firm.
Schneider is specifically keen on the battery operations of Luminous Power Technologies.
Formed in 1995, Schneider Electric India Pvt Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of French firm Schneider Electric Industries SAS. Schneider entered India in 1963 through a JV with Tata Group.
Company is planning for expansion in the energy efficiency space in India and may look at companies in the power inverter space.
If the deal materialises, it would Schneider's eight acquisition in India. Yesterday, Schneider acquired Smartlink Network Systems Ltd's Digilink business for Rs.503 Cr.
Earlier this year, it acquired 55% promoters stake in APW President Systems Ltd for Rs.62.2 Cr . APW designs and manufactures standard and customized racks and enclosure, particularly for IT and telecom firms.
