K12 Techno Services Raises Rs 25 Cr From Sequoia Capital

K12 Techno Services Pvt Ltd has raised Rs.25 Cr from Sequoia Capital in its second round of funding.
K12 will utilize the funds for growth as well as modernization of classrooms. The funds will be used to add 25 schools across Andhra Pradesh to its network.
Last September, Sequoia Capital alongwith Song Investment, funded the first round of Rs.70 Cr ($15 Mn) in K12. Following the first round, Sequoia's KP Balaraj and Ravishankar GV and Song Advisors' Vishal Vasishth joined the board of K12 Techno.

K-12 Techno Services, a school management company, manages over 70 affordable English-medium schools run by 15 different trusts under the Gowtham Model School brand. It also runs 'Orchids' - the International school brand.
Company's services include curriculum development, infrastructure development, pre-school management, teacher training and marketing solutions to educational trusts.
K12 has also partnered with CfBT UK and Brilliant Tutorials for spoken English and IIT training.
This is Sequoia's third investment in the education space. Last year, it exited from its investment in TutorVista Global Pvt Ltd. Along with Lightspeed Ventures and Manipal Education and Medical Group (MEMG), Sequoia sold its stake to UK-based media firm, Pearson Plc.
Recently, Sequoia Capital's four founders - Sumir Chadha, K P Balaraj, S K Jain and Sandeep Singhal, quit the firm to return to their original fund Westbridge Capital Partners, that will invest in publicly-listed companies.
Sequoia Capital currently manages funds capitalized at close to $1.4 Bn and invests across venture, growth and late stage opportunities in India. It has invested in more than 50 Indian companies including Cafe Coffee Day, Comviva (Bharti Telesoft), Idea Cellular, Ind-Barath Power, Just Dial, Manappuram Finance, Shaadi.com, Quick Heal, Micromax SKS Microfinance and Vasan Health Care.
