Ballarpur Industries has acquired Bangalore-based Premier Tissues India for Rs.76.52 Cr.
It has entered into a share purchase agreement with Premier Tissues India and all its shareholders, for acquisition of entire paid up capital of PTIL, either directly and / or indirectly.
The acquisition is likely to be completed by the end of this year, following which BILT will take over the operations and management of Premier Tissues.
Premier Tissues, a manufacturer of tissue paper is very strong in South and West India, while BILT has a good presence in North India. The integration of Premier’s operations with BILT’s own brand ‘Etiquette’, will help BILT capture a significant share of the paper industry.

Premier Tissues retails its products under the brand name ‘Premier’. It has over 150 distributors supplying to over 8,800 retail outlets. It also exports its products to Europe.
For 2009-10 it registered a revenue of Rs.41.7 Cr.
BILT, a part of the $4 billion Avantha Group, manufactures and exports writing and printing (W&P) paper, industrial paper and specialty paper.
It currently retails its tissue products under the brand, 'Etiquette', primarily in North India.
In 2007, BILT had acquired 97.78% stake in Sabah Forest Industries Sdn Bhd, the largest integrated pulp and paper mill in Malaysia, for $261 million.
BILT reported a net profit of Rs.65.31 Cr for Q1 FY2011, an increase of 75.80% against Rs.37.15 Cr in Q1 FY2010. Net sales during Q1 FY2011 grew by 48.65% to Rs.1,076.71 Cr from Rs.724.28 Cr in Q1 FY2010.
Recently, Pudumjee Pulp & Paper Mills has announced to acquire Global Boards Ltd.
