IFC may invest upto $10 Mn in Ahmedabad based newly formed NBFC - 
Ananya Finance For Inclusive Growth Pvt Ltd for a 20% stake. The deal values Ananya at $50 Mn.
Ananya will use the funding from IFC to expand its lending program in the low income states.
Ananya Finance, formerly known as Friends of Women World Banking, was founded by Ela R. Bhat, founder of SEWA in 1982.
It provides financial and non financial services to MFIs. It works across 17 states in India with more than 122 partner organisations.
Ananya is looking to raise upto $32.60 Mn equity to strengthen its capital adequacy and to lend a larger amount in the new entity. The firm would be a wholesale microfinance institution and will start with a portfolio of Rs 400 Cr transferred over from the trust.
The main sponsors of Ananya include Indian Foundation for Inclusive Growth(IFIG).
IFC has invested in a number of Indian MFIs in the recent past. It has also invested in PE funds which invest in Indian MFIs and has also been providing debt financing to this sector.
