Blackstone Group To Invest $300 Mn In Moserbaer Projects
Blackstone Group is investing $300 Mn (Rs.1.350 Cr) in Moserbaer Projects Pvt Ltd.(MBPPL) to fund its expansion plans.
Blackstone will get a significant minority stake in Moserbaer Projects.
MBPPL is engaged in the development of power assets using conventional and non- conventional sources of energy. It has been founded by Deepak Puri and Ratul Puri, who are the promoters of Moserbaer India Ltd.

Moser Baer Projects plans to commission 4,000 MW of thermal power, 500 MW of solar power and 500 MW of hydro power by 2016.
Moserbaer Projects most advanced thermal power plant is based in Madhya Pradesh and has already achieved financial closure and acquired fuel linkage.
It has multiple solar projects in advanced stages of construction in India, while its first solar project outside India was completed in December 2009 in Nordendorf, Germany.
This year in March, Blackstone Group has also acquired a 12.5% stake in Monnet power Company Ltd for Rs 275 Cr.
The power sector has seen a number of PE deals in the recent past. Recently, GVK Energy has raised Rs.350 Cr from IDFC Group for a significant minority stake. Bhilwara Energy is raising $50 Mn from India Clean Energy Fund and IFC to fund its power projects in India and Nepal.
SBI Macquarie Infrastructure Fund is acquiring a 12% stake in Adhunik Power and Natural Resources for Rs 125 Cr.
