Marico Buys Healthcare Brand 'Ingwe'
Marico Ltd buys OTC health care brand 'Ingwe' and realted IPR from Guideline Trading CC of South Africa through its subsidiary - Marico South Africa (MSA).
The range comprises immuno boosters and the medi pak range focused on the ethnic consumer in South Africa.
The acquisition of Ingwe brings in a range of products that complements that of MSA`s brand 'Hercules'. Ingwe products have a current turnover of Rs.15 Cr.

Few months back in May, Marico's wholly owned skin care subsidiary - Kaya Limited acquired the aesthetics business of Singapore based Derma Rx Asia Pacific Pte Limited.
Earlier in the year, Marico acquired Colgate Palmolive's haircare brand 'Code 10' and related Intellectual Property Rights.
In the past, Marico has made acquisitions in Egypt: in 2006, it bought local haircare brand Fiancee followed by Hair Code in 2007.
Marico reported consolidated net profit of Rs.73.73 Cr in Q1 2011, an increase of 31.73% against Rs.55.97 Cr for Q1 2010. Its total income increased by 13.54% from Rs.699.8 Cr in Q1 2010 to Rs.794.5 Cr in Q1 2011.
It has brands such as Parachute, Saffola, Sweekar, Hair & Care and Nihar under its kitty.
In the FMCG space, other than Marico, the other two major playesr Dabur and Godrej are on the acquistionb spree.
Dabur India acquired Turkey-based Hobi Kozmetik, while Godrej Consumer Products acquired Argentian hair Care company Argencos, LatAm based hair care company - Issue Group, Sara Lee’s 51% stake in Indian JV Godrej Sara Lee, Indonesia-based Megasari Makmur Group and its distribution company - Intrasari Raya.
