Dabur India To Acquire Turkey Based-Hobi Kozmetik
Dabur India is acquiring Turkey based personal care company Hobi Kozmetik, in its first overseas acquisition.
Dabur India Limited has sought enabling resolution to raise Rs 2,000 Cr to fund its acquisition. The company is looking for more acquisitions in Middle East, sub Sahara Africa and Indonesian markets.
Established in 1974, Hobi Kozmetik manufactures and sells shampoos, hairstyling, hair-care, skincare and bath and shower products under the brand name Hobby and New Era.

As per the company's website, it holds more than 40% stake in Turkey's hair gel market. It has presence in more than 30 countries and annual revenues of about Rs 100 Cr.
Dabur India is the fourth largest FMCG company in India with revenues of about $750 Mn & Market Cap of $3.5 Bn. It operates in hair care, oral care, health care, skin care, home care and foods. It's flagship brands include Vatika, Hajmola, Real and Fem.
In the past, Dabur had acquired 92% stake in Fem Care Pharma for a total consideration of Rs 260 Cr. It had acquired 72.15% in an all cash deal in Nov'08 and another 20% stake through an open offer in 2009.
Other Indian FMCG major's including GCPL are also looking for overseas acquisitions. In May'10, GCPL acquired Latin America based Issue Group - a significant player in many South American countries in the hair and skin care segment.
