Redington India Limited may acquire Turkish computer equipment distributor - Arena Bilgisayar Sanayi & Ticaret AS.
Publicly listed Arena is majorly owned by Turkish businessmen Izi Kohen, Mehmet Betil and Alvi Mazon.
Arena Bilgisayar Sanayi was founded in 1991. It is a distributor of computers and allied components, as well as other consumer electronics and communication equipment.
The company distributes and markets more than 400 international computer brands and accessories in Turkey via two main branches in Izmir and Ankara and an office in Northern Cyprus. In 2009, the sales revenue of Arena was $450 Mn.

Redington India - promoted by Redington Mauritius Ltd distributes computers, peripherals, networking products and software in India, Middle East and Africa.
Earlier in the month, Redington Mauritius sold 14% stake in Redington India for about Rs 391 Cr through open market deals.
7.8% of the 13.99% equity was sold to six investors including Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Blackstone,IDFC, Universities Superannuation Scheme and Payash Securities. This stake sale has bought the promoters stake in the company to 29%.
Redington India is backed by T.Rowe Price. Chryscapital and Indiaman Fund (Mauritius) had also invested in Redington.
Indiaman fund had invested $15.3 Mn in Sept'09 and exited by selling the stake for $11.4 Mn in Nov'09.
Chryscapital had invested $14.80 Mn March'06 and exited by selling its stake in two tranches. It first sold a part of its stake in Feb'08 for $11.70 Mn and then exited the company by selling the remaining stake for $12.65 Mn.
