Siva Group Acquires Stake in Norwegian Firm Isklar

Siva Group- through its investment vehicle COMPSLotus Ventures Pvt Ltd- has acquired 50% stake in Isklar AS for $ 22mn.

Isklar was established as a JV between Oman's Sabco Group and Norway's Jova Holdings. Post deal, the company would become a JV between Siva Group and Sabco and Jova Holdings jointly holding the remaining 50% stake.

Isklar is a seller of premium glacial natural mineral water which started its operations in UK in 2008. The Siva Group plans to launch the brand in India.

Siva Group is a diversified of $ 3bn conglomerate with global operations in industries like telecom, project engineering, shipping and logistics and others. The group is controlled by NRI businessman C Sivasankaran

Earlier this month, Siva Group through its companies picked up nearly 10% stake in Ruchi Soya Industries Ltd. The move had given rise to speculation among market players about a likely takeover bid of Ruchi Soya by the group.

However the group will need to buy an additional 5.7% stake in Ruchi Soya to trigger the open offer code set by SEBI.

In September 2009, Siva Group sold 6.3% stake in S Tel to Batelco Millenium India for Rs 125cr.
