Birla Group To Acquire More Ayurvedic Companies
Birla Kerala Vaidyashala plans to acquire 2 major ayurvedic companies in kerala having chains of treatment centres and drug outlets.
The company is in negotiations with the Nagarjuna Group of Thodupuzha and another unnamed company.
Birla's Foray into Ayurvedic Healthcare

Nagarjuna is the second-largest ayurvedic group in Kerala, with a treatment centre at Kalady.The group also has formulation manufacturing units, an ayurvedic institute, a research and development centre and a chain of specialty clinics for chronic and lifestyle diseases. It makes over 500 traditional ayurvedic drugs and more than 65 patented medicines.
The Yash Birla Group has varied lines of businesses of over 20 companies across pumps, dyes, chemicals, travel and hair saloons.
It also has a herbal and cosmetic products manufacturing company, named Birla Life Sciences. The Ashok Birla Apollo Hospital is a JV with the Apollo Group of Chennai for setting up a 300-bed hospital at Thane near Mumbai.
Kerala Vaidyashala is based out of Calicut district in Kerala, It was promoted by Kunhirama Kuroopfrom and has a chain of 30 therapy centres across India.
BKV had earmarked Rs 50cr for opening 200 centres, including own centres, franchise centres, high-end luxury stay spas, cruise spas and 19 economy centres across Maharashtra.
It was also planning an IPO by next year as part of expansion.
