Genpact Acquires Symphony Marketing Solutions
Genpact has acquired US - based Symphony Marketing Solutions (SMS) for an undisclosed sum. However the deal could be in the range of $90-100 Mn. Concurrently, SMS has also entered into an eight year contract with Information Resources Inc to provide end to end data management and analytics services.
Part of the Symphony Technology Group of companies - Symphony Marketing Solutions technology enabled marketing services and solutions. It has a workforce of over 1,200 employees worldwide. SMS clientele include Pepsi, Johnson & Johnson, Gillette, Bayer, Procter & Gamble and T-Mobile among others. It has a revenue of about $65 Mn.
The deal could be beneficial for Genpact as SMS has long term contracts with its clients, which would mean assured revenues for Genpact. Currently, 10% of Genpact $1 Bn revenue comes from analytics and the share could go up by another 5% after this acquisition.
Genpact was established in 1995 as an independent business unit of GE Capital. It used to provide BPO services to all businesses of GE. It became an independent company in 2005 and was listed on NYSE in 2007. GE holds 18% in Genpact, while PE firms including Oak Hill and General Atlantic hold about 40%.
It provides an array of enterprise and industry specific services. Genpact manages 3000 processes for more than 175 global clients. Its clientele includes GE, Nissan, Wachovia, National Australia Bank and Serco among others. It delivers its services from a network of delivery centers, spanning 13 countries.
Recently Genpact was in the news for having initiated talks with BPO firm Intelenet Global Services for a possible buyout.(Here)
